AMCS Hosts Annual Membership Luncheon

AMCS and MED-CHI members appreciate Brain Health in the Era of Precision Medicine at their annual membership luncheon. This year’s luncheon was chaired by Mrs. Alice T. Davis and featured speaker Georgia M. Dunston, Ph. D. Dr. Dunston is a noted researcher and Founding Director of The National Human Genome Center at Howard University. Driven by the desire to understand what makes people different and their biological health. Dr. Dunston has investigated the genetic makeup of people of African descent. With a goal to treat and cure diseases that constitute the real health disparities plaguing our Community, Dr Dunston is a powerful force with which to reckon. Her research continues to investigate the role of how the spirit, body and soul regulate and control the genome model through our ” cultural thinking and beliefs “. It is this understanding of what we, as a culture, “believe”  that is being researched for translation into scientific “knowledge”. The end  result will allow us to address a myriad of health conditions.
